Tivo owners with Picasa or Photobucket accounts just got another way to view their photos on their TVs—everyone’s favorite DVR company announced deals with both services today that will allow users to access their photos from any Tivo device. Photos will be pulled down at the highest resolution your Tivo supports, so Series3 and Tivo HD owners will get HD-res images displayed, and what’s more, users can also access friends’ photo albums.

SanDisk had earlier mentioned about their cheap-archival storage based on their new "3D memory’ a few months back, well the rumor has it that they are going ahead with the production of these chips. It would cost you $6 to buy a 1Gb card, that will be around 300- 400 of photos stored away nicely in the card for the next 100 years :)

Potentially more interesting than sony’s meesely price cuts on dev hardware is Mr. Harrison’s assertion that the firm is currently producing some 1.8 million Wiis per month, and it’s having to make decisions of where to send shipments to “nearly every week.” ‘Course, the chat couldn’t end without some reference to the rivals, and the exec concluded by proclaiming that Nintendo “doesn’t focus a lot on the competition,” as “its performance seems to be independent of those two.”

AMD has gone live with Phenom. With it, we’ve got an entire new platform, codenamed "Spider." The Spider PC platform combines AMD Phenom quad-core processors, ATI Radeon HD 3800 series graphics, and AMD 7-series chipsets with CrossFireX and AMD OverDrive software for what AMD calls the "Ultimate visual Experience." That’s the hype. Early reviews, however, are pretty much "underwhelmed" by the launch. Oh, the HD 3800 cards are ok (for mid-range graphics) and the 7-series chipset "is in good shape.

The cre8txt keyboard will make things an awful lot easier. This gem plugs into one’s PC via USB and actually translates texting jargon into words that Merriam-Webster would approve of, and in case that wasn’t gimmicky enough, it also includes predictive text software to complete sentences before you can even think up your own endings.

You can catch hold of the device if you have $105 to spare.

One of the things that the new Zune 2.0 will offer is a thinner profile than the chunky first generation Zune players. Microsoft is rolling out a new flash based Zune at the press event sized along the lines of the iPod nano at 3-inches by 1.25-inches.

These small flash-based Zune’s are reported to be video and WiFi capable and will have higher storage capacities than competing products from Apple. One could gather from that last statement that the flash based Zune 2.0 would be available in 8GB and perhaps even in a 16GB capacity.

Microsoft will reportedly manufacture about 2.4 million Zune 2.0 devices for the holiday season. Two thirds of these devices are expected to be the flash based players. The new Zunes are expected to be available in November along with Microsoft’s new line of Zune accessories. Pricing information on the new Zune products is unavailable at this time, but expect pricing to be very competitive with similar offerings from Apple.

The IEEE is forming a group to revise the IEEE 1625 standard for lithium-ion laptop batteries and guess which two companies will chair it … wait for it … Sony and Dell. These two companies have extensive experience in exploding batteries which makes them eminently qualified to chair the group.

Exploding batteries incidents have caused a massive recall of lithium-ion laptop batteries this year. Most of the batteries have been manufactured by Sony and sold to major laptop makers like Dell.

This just goes to show what money can do, didnt know that even IEEE could do something as stupid as this.

The trick behind PS3 to sell it was to make it available in low quantity and make it exclusive kind of thing, so that when next batch arrives it will be sold in a day.

Wii did the exact opposite of this they made all there 600,000 consoles available on the launch day and guess what … They sold there entire batch, seems like people at sony need to rethink there strategy or they are going down.

Btw i pulled up this nice userbar from nexgen site which shows number of consoles sold so far.
